Pádraig the Travelling Bear

In February, we had a special visitor to our school in the form of Pádraig the travelling bear. Pádraig hails from Walterstown National School in Cobh, where his owner Ms Dee Ryan arranges lots of fun places for him to visit. At the moment, he is travelling all around the 32 counties of Ireland. While Pádraig was with us, he had a very busy itinerary! He arrived on February 15th and spent a busy day in Ms Butler's Junior Infant class making Valentine's chocolate treats. He also helped them count the fruit in their lunchboxes and even had some fruit himself. The Junior Infants took great care of him, and took him all around the school to meet different people. He met our school secretary, Joan, our principal, Mr Coleman and he visited the computer room also. He really enjoyed his day in Junior Infants where he got lots of hugs and kisses.

The following day, Pádraig made pancakes with our class in the morning. He was quite the chef! We borrowed portable pancake makers and and made over 100 pancakes in the morning. Pádraig became great friends with a little Liverpool teddy called Leah seen here! After sos, he visited Ms Behan's class and Ms Hearne's classes (Senior Infants)

On Wednesday, Pádraig went on a big adventure to London with a number of teachers from the school. He had his own seat on the plane and got VIP treatment all the way! We flew from Kerry to Stansted Airport for two nights. We stayed in the Earl's Court area of London in a lovely apartment, were Pádraig was in the lap of luxury! During his stay in London, Pádraig took the tube, saw Big Ben, went to Harrods, to mention but few activities. He was worn out by the time he flew back in to Kerry Airport.

We were really sad to see Pádraig leave us after the fun week we had. We sent him on to Ms Howick in Ballintotas NS, Castlemartyr in Cork. We wish him all the best on the rest of his journey. A special thank you to Dee Ryan, Pádraig's owner for letting him spend some time with us. He is always welcome back to visit us in Tralee, and we hope he gives us a call sometime!
